بذورها تتراوح ما بين 35% - 45% وهي سريعة النمو وتعطي ثمارها بعد سنتين ومتوسط انتاج الشجرة الواحدة 15 كيلو غرام من البذور سنويا ويدوم اثمارها حوالي 50 عاما.\n\nوانتاج الميل المربع من الجاتروفا حوالي 2000 برميل من زيت الجاتروفا في العام . وتفيد التقارير ان مميزاتها تكمن في قدرتها الخارقة علي النمو والانتشار بسرعة عجيبة، وفي كل البيئات الزراعية، وتتحمل اقسى انواع الجفاف مما يجعل نشر زراعتها على نطاق واسع امرا بالغ السهولة حتى في الصحاري الجافة، والأراضي القاحلة، وعلى جوانب الطرق، وفي الاراضي الحجرية، وكل الاراضي التي لاتصلح للاستثمار في زراعة المحاصيل التقليدية، وقد امكن زراعتها بمياه الصرف الصحي المعالج، وتشير الدراسات الى امكان زراعتها بمياه الصرف الزراعي رغم ارتفاع نسبة الملوحة فيها، وهي لاتتطلب التسميد، ولذا اطلق عليها اسم ذهب الصحراء ولاعجب في ان تتسابق عليها دول العالم .\n\nأما أهم مميزات الجاتروفا هي استخدام زيت الجاتروفا لإنتاج الوقود الحيوي و الذي يعتبر حالياً مصدرا متجددا للطاقة النظيفة البديلة للنفط و الجاتروفا غير ملوثة للبيئة حيث لا يحتوي زيت الجاتروفا على ثاني اكسيد الكبريت، و اول اكسيد الكربون كما و انه أكثر أماناً خلال النقل و التخزين مقارنة بالمنتجات البترولية سريعة الإشتعال و التي تحتاج لإحتياطات كبيرة عند النقل و التخزين . خلط البيوديزل بنسبة 20% (B20) يمكن استخدامه في جميع ماكينات الديزل ويتفق مع معظم معدات التخزين والتوزيع حيث أن نسبة الخلط (20%) وأقل منها لا تحتاج أي تعديلات في الماكينة بل يمكن أن تؤدى نفس مستوى الأداء لوقود الديزل العادي.\n\n وتنتج كل 3-4 كيلو غرامات من بذورالجاتروفا ليتراً من الزيت الخالص كما تستخدم المخلفات في صناعة الصابون ، اي انه يمكن الاستفادة من البذور وكافة المخلفات للنبتة.\nوصف شجرة الجاتروفا\n\nعادة ما يتم زراعة الجاتروفا في المناطق الإستوائية و شبه الإستوائية و الصحراوية ذات المناح الجاف و يمكن ري نبات الجاتروفا بمياه الأمطار أو مياه الصرف الصحي المعالج .\n\n متوسط عمر شجرة الجاتروفا 50 سنة أضف إلى كونها لا تحتاج الي تسميد او استصلاح او مياه كثيرة فهي ليست بحاجة لأكثر من 250 ملم من المياه خلال العام ومع تلك البساطة في زراعتها لكنها غنية بما تحصل عليه منها اقتصاديا واجتماعيا وتنمويا .\n\nﺍﻟﺠﺎﺗﺮﻭﻓﺎ
