This device is used to perform tests for IK ratings (Impact Protection ratings), which are defined by international standards like IEC 62262 and IEC 60068-2-75. The device works by releasing a pendulum with a specific mass and from a specific height to strike a test specimen, such as an electrical enclosure. It is used to ensure products made of materials like plastic, ceramic, and fiberglass can withstand impacts without compromising their safety or functionality. The IK rating system uses different impact energies, from 0.14 joules (IK00) up to 20 joules (IK10), to classify the level of protection an enclosure provides.
