These stories are framed within an overarching narrative centered around King Shahryar and his wife Scheherazade, who told him an exciting story each night, ending at a thrilling moment, causing him to postpone her execution to hear the rest the following night, until the nights reached one thousand and one. 🔹 Content: It includes diverse stories such as: Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, Sinbad the Sailor, Aladdin and the Magic Lamp (added later in some versions), in addition to tales about kings, merchants, jinn, sea adventures, and proverbs and wisdom. 🔹 Significance: • Considered one of the greatest works of world folk literature. • Combines imagination, myth, and wisdom. • Influenced world literature and has been translated into most languages of the world. • Regarded as a mirror reflecting the cultures of the peoples who contributed to its formation.
