As an Engagement Manager – Behavioral Science, you will lead client engagements that apply behavioral insights to improve policymaking, service delivery, and program outcomes. Your core responsibility will be to design, implement, and evaluate interventions grounded in behavioral science, working closely with public sector clients. In addition to driving project work, you will help clients establish and scale behavioral science capabilities within their organizations - whether through building internal units, training teams, or designing operating models for sustained behavioral impact. While a background in strategy consulting is a plus, this role prioritizes practical expertise in applying behavioral science to real-world challenges. Key Responsibilities: Behavioral Science Application (Primary Focus): · Lead the behavioral science component of client projects, from diagnosis to intervention design and evaluation. · Apply principles from behavioral economics, psychology, and decision science to identify behavioral barriers and opportunities. · Design experiments and measurement approaches to assess the impact of interventions. · Translate behavioral research into actionable, context-specific recommendations for policy, communications, or service design. · Present behavioral insights to clients through compelling narratives, reports, and visuals. Behavioral Strategy & Capability Building: · Support clients in building internal behavioral science units or labs. · Design frameworks, toolkits, and operating models to embed behavioral thinking into institutions. · Deliver training and capacity-building sessions for client teams. · Advise on hiring, team structure, and governance models for sustainable behavioral science integration. Client Engagement & Relationship Management: · Serve as the main point of contact for clients, managing stakeholder relationships throughout the engagement lifecycle. · Facilitate workshops, co-creation sessions, and behavioral insight discussions with client teams. · Ensure behavioral science solutions align with client goals, policy contexts, and practical constraints. Project Management & Team Leadership: · Develop and oversee project plans, ensuring deliverables are on time, on budget, and impactful. · Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, analysts, researchers, and policymakers. · Ensure high standards of quality, ethics, and rigor in all project outputs. Research & Thought Leadership: · Stay current on developments in behavioral science and adjacent fields. · Contribute to internal knowledge development and innovation. · Produce white papers, articles, or presentations that showcase behavioral applications and success stories. Key Qualifications · Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Behavioral Economics, or a related field. · 5+ years of experience applying behavioral science in public policy, service design, or consulting. · Proven experience designing and evaluating behavioral interventions. · Experience working with public sector clients is preferred. · Background in strategic initiatives such as building teams or developing organizational capabilities is a plus. · Strong behavioral science grounding and ability to apply insights in practical settings. · Excellent communication skills—able to explain behavioral concepts to non-technical audiences. · Experience managing stakeholders and leading project teams. · Creative, collaborative, and systems-minded with strong analytical skills. · Comfortable with ambiguity, experimentation, and iterative problem-solving.
