Book Title: The Dispeller of Sorrows upon Losing Loved Ones and Companions Book Condition: New Type: Book Author: Abdullah Al-Hablani Number of Pages: 168 Publisher: King Fahd National Library Year of Publication: 2005 What Relieves Distress upon Losing Loved Ones: Contemplation, deep reflection, and careful study of the Book of God, exalted be He, and the Sunnah of His Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. In them lie what brings comfort to the eyes, what calms the hearts, and what brings tranquility to the limbs as a result. This is among the blessings granted by God, and He bestows it upon those who show patience, accept His decree, and expect reward, granting them immense reward and generous recompense. If the distressed person were to compare what was taken from them with what was given, they would undoubtedly find that the reward and recompense they received is far greater than the loss they suffered, multiplied many times over. Had God willed, He could have made it even greater, more severe, and more significant. All of this occurs according to His wisdom, and everything with Him is measured precisely. So let us, O beloved, pause with a verse from the Book of God, exalted be He—a verse from the beginning of the first Surah in the Book of God, exalted be He—sufficient as an admonition, sufficient as a solace, and sufficient as a remover of distress. Allah says: "And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits. But give good tidings to the patient, who, when disaster strikes them, say, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.' Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy, and those are the rightly guided."
