Bilateral Discussion: Reputation and Public Opinion on the Balance – Should I Not Care About Them?

In our societies, reputation and what others say are among the most important drivers of behavior for the vast majority of individuals, and among the main deterrents preventing them from engaging in many actions—even if they are personally convinced of them. Here, individuals tend to consider 'what people think' to a degree that may surpass their consideration of themselves, from daily actions to life-changing decisions. Many of us do not necessarily view this as negative, given that humans are inherently 'social beings,' and thus it may not be entirely within their control to disregard others' opinions about them. We will discuss this matter from entirely different angles, attempting to dive deep into the concept, broadening our perspectives and expressing our thoughts in a space free from judgment and labeling. Discussion Format: Each person will discuss the topic with another individual for 9-10 minutes to hear more transparent and honest viewpoints, then move on to another person until six rounds are completed.
