Duel Discussion: Reputation and Public Opinion on the Balance, Should I Even Care?

In our societies, reputation and what others say are among the most important drivers of behavior for the majority of individuals, and among the main deterrents preventing them from engaging in many actions—even if they are personally convinced of them. Here, an individual often considers "others" to a degree that may exceed self-consideration, from daily behaviors to life-changing decisions. Many of us do not necessarily view this as negative, given that humans are inherently "social beings," and thus have little control over not caring about others' opinions of them. We will discuss this matter from entirely different angles, attempting to dive deep into the idea, to broaden our perspectives and express our thoughts in a space free from stigma and labeling.
