Job Title: Supervisor, Business Efficiency & Costing Job Summary: The Supervisor, Business Efficiency & Costing plays a key role in establishing and overseeing the newly formed Financial Business Efficiency & Costing function within the Financial Planning and Reporting department. This role focuses on implementing costing frameworks, guiding business efficiency initiatives, supporting financial aspects of pricing strategies, leveraging analytics for commercial effectiveness, and improving the financial understanding of technical assets. The Supervisor will work closely with team members and stakeholders to ensure operational excellence, profitability, and alignment with overall business objectives. Key Responsibilities: Implement Comprehensive Costing Frameworks: Assist in selecting and maintaining robust costing systems, such as activity-based costing (ABC), to provide detailed cost insights. Integrate cost management practices with financial planning processes to enhance resource allocation and profitability analysis. Ensure costing methods adhere to accounting standards and best practices. Oversee Business Efficiency Initiatives: Identify and recommend opportunities to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency. Support efficiency projects in alignment with financial targets, ensuring measurable value and cost savings. Foster a culture of continuous improvement across the team and maintain open communication with cross-functional partners. Support Financial Aspects of Pricing Strategies: Contribute to evaluating pricing models to balance competitiveness, profitability, and strategic objectives. Analyze the financial impact of proposed pricing changes, promotions, and discounts. Collaborate with the Marketing unit and other stakeholders to assist in revenue planning and achieving margin targets. Guide Advanced Analytics for Commercial Efficiency and Pricing: Utilize data analytics to inform pricing decisions, product/service offerings, and resource allocation. Develop and maintain financial models and forecasts to support planning and identify areas for margin improvement. Present data-driven recommendations that enhance profitability, revenue growth, and operational effectiveness. Maintain Cost and Performance Management Standards: Support the establishment of governance standards for cost control and performance evaluation. Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure accountability and transparent progress tracking. Encourage the adoption of efficiency metrics and performance management best practices throughout the team. Enhance Decision Support and Efficiency Tools: Contribute to the development and refinement of decision support systems that illuminate financial and operational impacts. Leverage analytical tools and software to facilitate data-driven decision-making. Keep current with emerging technologies to improve analytical capabilities and reporting accuracy. Improve Financial Understanding of Technical Assets: Work with technical teams to gain insights into subsea and data center assets. Translate technical considerations into financial impacts to improve decision-making and resource allocation. Align financial strategies with the specific needs of these critical infrastructure assets. Team Supervision and Development: Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support to analysts within the function. Set clear performance expectations and offer constructive feedback for professional growth. Encourage knowledge sharing, collaboration, and skill development within the team. Presentation and Communication: Prepare and deliver presentations to management and stakeholders, conveying complex financial information clearly. Utilize Microsoft PowerPoint and think-cell, other tools to create visually engaging charts, summaries, and reports. Ensure all communications are concise, accurate, and tailored to the audience’s needs. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Approximately 7-8 years of relevant experience in finance, costing, or business efficiency roles. Strong understanding of costing methodologies, including activity-based costing. Proven ability to support efficiency initiatives and process improvements. Familiarity with pricing strategies, financial modeling, and data analytics. Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and think-cell, and other tools as well for creating professional, data-driven presentations. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and influence colleagues at various levels. Experience with ERP systems, BI tools, and other financial software preferred.
