In our societies, reputation and others' opinions are among the most important drivers of behavior for the majority of individuals, and among the main deterrents preventing them from engaging in many actions—even if they personally believe in them. Here, individuals consider "what people think" to an extent that may surpass their consideration of themselves, ranging from daily behaviors to life-changing decisions. Many of us do not necessarily view this as negative, given that humans are inherently "social beings," and therefore cannot help but care about others' opinions of them.
