The author structured his work into thirty-three chapters including: the virtue of intellect, its nature and location; mind, understanding, and intelligence; signs of intelligence; wisdom transmitted from the prophets; previous nations; Prophet Muhammad; companions; caliphs; ministers; judges; scholars and ascetics; Arabists; using intelligence for various purposes; those whose cleverness backfired; precautions taken by the intelligent; wit of women, children, poets, and warriors. Ibn al-Jawzi said in the introduction to his book: I wanted to compile a book about stories of intelligent people whose insight was strong and whose brilliance shone due to the inherent strength of their minds. This serves three purposes.
