Dual Discussion: Reputation and Public Opinion on the Balance – Should I Even Care?

In our societies, reputation and others' opinions are among the most significant drivers of behavior for the majority of individuals, and among the main deterrents preventing them from engaging in many actions—even if they personally believe in them. Here, individuals often consider 'what people think' to a degree that may surpass their consideration of themselves, from daily behaviors to life-changing decisions. Many of us don't necessarily view this as negative, given that humans are inherently "social beings," and thus it's not entirely within their control to be indifferent to others' opinions about them. We will discuss this matter from entirely different perspectives, attempting to dive deep into the core of this idea, broadening our understanding and expressing our thoughts in a space free from judgment and labeling. Discussion Format: Each person will discuss the topic with another individual for 9–10 minutes to hear more transparent and honest perspectives, then switch to another person until six rounds are completed.
