Session 398: Mockery.. Between Philosophy and Literature

Agatha Christie is attributed to have said: "I get inspiration for the plots of my detective novels while washing dishes; because this silly task involuntarily pushes you to think about murder." Have you ever laughed at a text or a poem, or felt that a philosopher was writing a joke? In this session, we will discuss what it means for mockery to sneak between the pages of a book or behind a philosopher's glasses, and even into our casual words and everyday situations. We will bring together Al-Jahiz, who mocked misers, and Nietzsche, who mocked existence, all the way to neighborhood jokes and social media. We will try to understand why we laugh in the first place.. Come with the beauty of your souls and the spontaneity of your hearts.
